Do you serve your own priorities?

Recently I was speaking with a busy social worker who told me she has lots of time and energy for organizing other people’s projects, but feels overwhelmed by her own.

Sometimes it’s necessary to step back from life and look at whether we are living according to our values. If the urgent is overcoming the important, and the obligations don’t reflect the things we most want in life, it may be time to realign! Why should your competence go only toward obligations and agreements that don’t serve your deepest desires?

This quote from a client is an excellent example.

“I’m excited about this! And also nervous about it. That’s how I always feel when I take on something really new. I think this class could be just the support I need. I’ve decided to use some of the same energy and organization I put into my obligations for the goals that are most important to me.”
